“Creer para ver [Believing is Seeing]” Programme — 2008/2014

Created in 2008 by Natura Cosmetics Argentina and the Latin American Center for Service-Learning (CLAYSS), between 2008 and 2014, it supported more than 50 educational institutions throughout Argentina to develop and strengthen solidarity service-learning initiatives.

Objective: To strengthen solidarity service-learning experiences, with students taking action to meet real-world community needs while integrating learning with service.

Scope: It was developed in schools in Argentina, providing financial and technical support for their projects.

Type of Support: Included training and updating in the solidarity service-learning approach for teachers, as well as ongoing monitoring and evaluation of experiences.

Funding: The resources were obtained through the sale of non-cosmetic products by Natura, in a line called “Believing is Seeing”, which supports public education.

Pryce Waterhouse Coopers Education Award (PWC) – Corporate Volunteer Programme.

Between 2004 and 2010, CLAYSS and Pryce Waterhouse Coopers encouraged recognition of educational institutions across the country in the following areas:

• Solidarity-based micro-enterprises in education

• Solidarity-based educational experiences in Agricultural Technical Vocational Education

• Solidarity-based educational experiences in inclusive mainstream schools and special education schools

• Social organizations engaged in local development initiatives

• Solidarity-based educational experiences in environmental protection

• Solidarity-based educational experiences focused on the preservation and promotion of local cultural heritage

Simultaneously, CLAYSS promoted and supported corporate volunteer initiatives, in which PWC partners and employees joined CLAYSS technicians to support educational institutions in improving technical aspects of their initiatives.
