Intensive Training at the Universidad Mayor de San Marcos in Peru

During the second semester in 2024, CLAYSS developed an intensive training programme for colleagues from the School of Medicine of the Universidad Mayor de San Marcos, Peru, with 40 professors participating.

During three months of training, the participants planned initiatives to address different social problems, such as healthy eating at all life stages, the self-empowerment of transgender women in peripheral communities, physical activity in the elderly, sexual and reproductive health in adolescents, and alcohol consumption among students. In addition, they took part in two training sessions: Transformative Education: The Service-Learning Proposal and Transformation Plan. Keys to Design Service-Learning Projects. Alejandra Herrero and Natalia Cerdeira were in charge of tutoring these courses.

To conclude the programme, Sebastián Puglisi gave the conference Reimaginar la Educación Superior en el Siglo XXI, la Propuesta del Aprendizaje y Servicio Solidario [Reimagining Higher Education in the 21st Century: The Solidarity Service-Learning Approach] (https://fb.watch/x8InAtsvwU/) [in Spanish], a presentation opened to the university community, to share the joint work with other faculties and provide new opportunities to develop solidarity-based community projects.
