Training session begin for award-winning schools at the Eco Fair 2025.
The institutions that won the “Escuela Verde” Eco Fair 2025 Award, titled “Let’s learn together to care for our Common Home”, are receiving tiloed, in-person training from CLAYSS. This initiative allows them to reinforce and, in some cases, expand their experiences in Ecology and SSL. The programme was organized as part of the 10th Eco Fair in Mariápolis Lia (Buenos Aires, Argentina), which brought together schools from different regions to present and raise awareness of their solidarity-based and sustainable projects.
On 23rd April, the workshop “Integral Ecology + Service-Learning” was held in the city of Chivilcoy, Buenos Aires, at Carlos Gardel Secondary School No. 8, which had been awarded a special mention. The session was led by Graciela del Campo (CLAYSS), María Alejandra Herrero (CLAYSS and EcoOne), and Mariela Borgnia (EcoOne). Held in the Chivilcoy Lions Club hall, it drew 45 participants, including administrators, teachers, teaching assistants, and students from the school, alongside district secondary education supervisors and representatives from partner community-based organizations. As a result of the workshop, participants prioritized three quality criteria for improvement and outlined action plans and commitments based on their respective roles and responsibilities. The active participation of students alongside community members was a new feature of this type of event, making it a highly fruitful collaborative review and assessment session.
Additionally, on 18th May, another training session took place as part of the same initiative, this time in Necochea, Buenos Aires, at the Colegio Danés Alta Mira. The school received first prize for its “Promotores Ambientales [Environmental Promoters]” initiative, developed by primary and secondary school students. The event, led by Graciela del Campo (CLAYSS) and María Alejandra Herrero (CLAYSS and EcoOne), was held at the school with more than 50 attendees. Victoria Felizia, head of the secondary school, highlighted the extensive participation of the educational community, noting that the event brought together students, teachers from kindergarten, primary and secondary levels. She also highlighted the commitment of community partners who support the school’s initiatives. “Without them, none of these projects would be possible, because it is precisely through working together that we are able to carry them out,” she said.
These training sessions, alongside future workshops, are planned and carried out within the institutional framework of “Tejiendo Redes [Weaving Networks]“, in collaboration with EcoOne and CLAYSS, focusing on the link between Integral Ecology and service-learning.
