The participating hubs of the Uniservitate programme of solidarity service-learning in Catholic higher education institutions took part in the call for small grants on research projects (https://www.uniservitate.org/es/investigacion-y-espiritualidad/) to be implemented during 2023-2024. In this first edition, €70,000 was distributed globally; each of the seven (7) regional hubs of Uniservitate (Africa, Latin America and the Caribbean, Asia and Oceania, Central and Eastern Europe-Middle East, Western Europe North, Western Europe South, USA and Canada) managed these resources according to the requests received and evaluated by a scientific committee, to support research on service-learning.
The suggested topics for the proposals were the following:
1) The spiritual dimension of SL;
2) SL contribution to CHEIs mission and identity;
3) SL institutionalization processes in the specific contexts of CHEIs;
4) evidence of SL impact towards a holistic education.
Out of the four topics, research focusing on evidencing the SL impact in its relationship with holistic education (18 grants awarded out of 33 winning research in total) stood out, followed by institutionalisation processes (8 small grants), the spiritual dimension (4 small grants) and the contribution of SL to the mission and identity (3 small grants).
We congratulate each one of those selected by the jury appointed for each hub and encourage them to continue working on increasing research resources on service-learning.
