Democratic Competences and Service-Learning. The German foundation Stiftung Lernen durch Engagement (LdE) has published the English version of its booklet, entitled Democratic Competences and Service-Learning. It provides a solid pedagogical framework explaining how service-learning acts as a key driver for developing of civic skills in children and young people—including empathy, critical thinking, conflict resolution and civic engagement.
Designed for educators and organizations worldwide, it combines theoretical foundations with practical guidance and quality criteria to design school projects focused on democratic education. It is a handy and essential reference tool to enrich civic participation starting in the classroom.
