Nursing and Midwifery students from the University of Kisubi lead sanitation activities and health education in Busambaga village.
First-year Nursing and Midwifery students from the University of Kisubi carry out an outstanding solidarity service-learning project focused on health education and sanitation campaigns in Busambaga village. Recognized with a Special Mention in the Uniservitate Award 2026, the students conducted community assessment to identify and address pressing local health needs.
Through this project, students visited homes, conducted health education workshops, and promoted key guidelines for hygiene and waste management. They also completed practical community infrastructure projects, including building drying racks, equipping a school sick bay, and collaborating on the cleaning and renovation of the local health centre.
This initiative improved village sanitation while bridging academic theory with professional practice, enabling future health practitioners to develop essential skills in interpersonal communication, teamwork, and civic engagement.
