On Friday 28th August, a new “Solidarity Service-Learning in the Arts” meeting took place as part of the 29th International Conference. This latest edition brought together 17 participants from Argentina, Peru, Mexico and the Philippines.
On this occasion, CLAYSS team organized a workshop activity using a playful ‘Choose Your Own Adventure’ style (referencing the iconic books series with the same name). The activity offered participants the chance to take very different paths to develop a solidarity service-learning initiative in the arts. This enabled them to consider what happened when they chose one path over another, and to assess what could be done to achieve greater results with each of the available options.
Following this exercise, Francisco José Merino (Head of Faculty Relations Department of the Academic Directorate for Social Responsibility at the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru) described the experience of the ‘Enfoques de la Enseñanza Musical [Approaches to Music Teaching]’ course at the School of Performing Arts in relation to the project carried out at the Fe y Alegría School No. 34 in the Metropolitan area of Lima, Peru.
The meeting concluded with a joint closing session and the conclusions drawn by the CLAYSS team.
