Master in Citizenship and Values Education Students Welcome Professor Nieves Tapia at the Universitat de Barcelona

Our director gave a lecture on solidarity service-learning to students on the Master’s degree in Education in Values and Citizenship at the University of Barcelona.

Invited by Xus Martín, holder of the chair, Nieves presented service-learning in the framework of two recent publications: the UNESCO document (https://unesdoc.unesco.org/ark:/48223/pf0000379381_spa) on the futures of education, and the recent book co-edited by UNESCO and CLAYSS (link: https://www.clayss.org/wp-content/uploads/2024/08/libro_unesco_web.pdf [Spanish]) that puts this document in dialogue with the practices of solidarity service-learning in Ibero-America. Nieves’ presentation was followed by an active and interesting dialogue, which also involved the invited personalities, including some of the pioneers of service-learning in Catalonia: Roser Batlle, Miquel Martínez, Josep Maria Puig, and Jaume Trilla.
