Projects that inspire! The winners of the 12th Solidarity Education Award in Uruguay were announced

Seven service-learning projects were awarded for their solidarity and contribution to building a better society. With a total of twenty-five projects, this new edition of the competition once again highlights the work of Uruguayan students, teachers and institutions.

On Friday 29th November, the prize-giving ceremony for the 12th edition of the Solidarity Education Award, organized by CLAYSS Uruguay, took place. During the opening ceremony in the hall of the Centro Cultural España in Montevideo, Lucila Leis from CLAYSS said: “I am excited and today I came to celebrate because this is the twelfth edition. We have evaluated finalists where service-learning is truly present, practically institutionalised’. Along the same lines, Luz Avruj, coordinator of institutional relations and networks at CLAYSS, said: ‘The idea of the award is not about winners and losers, but about celebrating the fact that we are all making a difference, getting involved and making things happen’.

Aline Monetta, from ANEP’s Sectoral Directorate of Educational Integration, highlighted the participation and contribution of all the children and young people who took part in the call for the award. It gives us great satisfaction to have evaluated their work, which is of the highest value,’ she said.

On the other hand, Silvia Trías, from the National Education Directorate of the Ministry of Education and Culture of Uruguay, reflected: “How can anything go wrong when the words learning and solidarity are involved? Continue along this path!“

Andrea Ferreira, from the Organisation of Ibero-American States, said that taking part in the selection of proposals was a “positive experience on a professional and personal level. You have created something for others and that is very valuable.
