Our colleagues from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile celebrated 20 years of service-learning with a special conference.
On Thursday, 3rd October, the conference 20 years of A+S took place at the San Joaquín Campus. Our director and founder, Prof. Nieves Tapia, was invited to participate in the opening round table of this event, together with Joaquín Walker, the current Executive Secretary of the Educational Reactivation Plan of the Chilean Ministry of Education, who presided over the Student Centre and encouraged students to be protagonists in the origins of the programme. Ingrid Gallardo, Deputy Director of Solidarity Culture of the Hogar de Cristo Foundation, one of the partner service-learning social organizations at the University since its beginnings was also part of this round table.
In a strong atmosphere of community and shared celebration, a large and enthusiastic audience of professors, students and partners who are protagonists of the current projects attended the Conference. There were also important people from the early days, such as the former Rector Rosso and Sebastián Zulueta, who launched the programme, and many professors from the first hour, who were given a moving tribute.
During the day, there was an interactive fair with games on service-learning, SDGs and other related topics, as well as workshops and concurrent sessions.
CLAYSS congratulates the Chilean colleagues on their achievements over the past 20 years and wishes them a fruitful continuation.
