Teacher-Training Day to Think School from Community-Link Perspective

On 3rd July, the Instituto San Pedro Nolasco, a school of the Mercedarian Order in Buenos Aires, Argentina, hosted the workshop “Del aula a la comunidad: la pedagogía del aprendizaje-servicio solidario [From classroom to community: the solidarity service-learning pedagogy].” This training initiative was promoted by CLAYSS and coordinated by Alejandro Gimelli, coordinator of the School Support Programme.

More than 40 teachers and school administrators participated in this joint working session, which explored the principles of Solidarity Service-Learning (SSL) as a pedagogy that combines learning of curriculum content with authentic solidarity initiatives.

The workshop enabled participants to review school practices, share questions, and imagine possible initiatives rooted in the educational context. It was more than just a training session; it was an opportunity to meet, think about teaching from the perspective of collaboration, engagement with the community, and the belief that schools can be a driving force for social change.
