Service-learning: l’educazione che trasforma. Un Ponte tra saperi e comunità [Service-Learning: Education that Transforms. A Bridge between Knowledge and Community], Irene Culcasi (available in Italian).

This book is an act of care. Care for a pedagogy that seeks to recenter experience, relationships, and the interconnection between knowledge and people. Service-learning, which is the core focus of this volume, is not just a methodology or a teaching technique: it is an educational horizon, an invitation to inhabit education as an ethical, civic, and transformative space.

This work stems from listening to many voices: those of students, communities, teachers, and local organizations that commit every day to generating bonds, solidarity, and vital knowledge. It also arises from the need to offer a solid and accessible theoretical and methodological framework for those who want to integrate service-learning into their teaching practice while managing its full complexity.
In a time marked by fragmentation, education can still be a generative space. But to truly be one, it needs tools, visions, and alliances. This book is a contribution in that direction. It is an invitation to set out, with awareness and courage, toward an education that not only teaches but accompanies, questions, and builds communities.
