NEW! Towards a Global History of Service-Learning.

Various authors. This new book from the Uniservitate Collection, recently published, brings together authors from different continents who, based on their experience in service-learning, delve into a historical look at the roots, characteristics and growth of this practice, providing an original global view of the development of this pedagogical approach. The book frames service-learning within the historical context of higher education’s social mission. In its pages, you will find the evolution it has undergone since the first experiences of social engagement in Latin America and the Caribbean, the rich and varied processes experienced in European countries, the steady growth of service-learning in Asia and Africa in recent years, and the solid tradition developed in the United States and Canada.
Beyond the diversity and the ‘local colour’ of particular nuances, readers may find common features underpinning the commitment of those developing service-learning projects today.
