Conference UNW: A Call to Root Education in Social Reality

More than 150 professors, students, coordinators, and administrators from Norbert Wiener University (UNW) [Website in Spanish] in Peru actively participated in the online conference delivered by Candelaria Ferrara, Regional Hub Coordinator for the Uniservitate-CLAYSS Programme. The meeting was an opportunity to reflect, inviting the entire university community to go beyond institutional walls and root themselves in social reality.

The central theme was the implementation of the solidarity service-learning approach (SSL) to overcome the fragmentation of the three pillars of the university, by intentionally combining academic knowledge with concrete actions to address community needs.

Concluding the conference, the UNW was called upon to consider ways to advance towards a model of a university “rooted in its territory”: building networks with the community and promoting the mutual exchange of knowledge. It was a clear call to action and a reminder that knowledge is not only found in laboratories or books, but also through meetings, listening, and shared action.
