CLAYSS Discussion with Students from Siglo 21 University on Service-Learning

On 9th October, CLAYSS gave an online talk to 580 students from Siglo 21 University who are participating in university extension programmes at different campuses. Sebastián Puglisi led the activity on behalf of CLAYSS, as part of a series of meetings aimed at promoting the inclusion of solidarity service-learning (SSL) in higher education.

During the talk, Sebastián Puglisi presented the principles of the service-learning approach, highlighting its potential to link academic studies with transformative action in communities. Students connected online from different parts of the country, and actively participated by asking questions and sharing experiences and reflections on how to enhance the social and educational results of their projects.

The conversation enabled to identify common ground between university extension practices and the SSL pedagogy, highlighting the importance of educational activities with community engagement as opportunities for meaningful, critical, and collaborative learning.

This activity is part of CLAYSS’s ongoing work with higher education institutions to strengthen pedagogical approaches that promote active citizenship, social engagement, and educational innovation throughout the region.
