The Uniservitate Membership Programme continues to offer training and education on key aspects of solidarity service-learning.
On 8th October, a new webinar was held for member institutions of the Uniservitate global network, under the title Service-Learning in Higher Education: Strategies and Experiences for Institutionalization. Speakers included Andrew Furco (University of Minnesota, Professor, Dept. of Organizational Leadership, Policy, and Development; Director, International Center for Research on Community Engagement; Uniservitate Board Member), alongside María Lourdes Melegrito (De La Salle University, Associate Professor and Former Director of COSCA), Brother Hernán Santos (Bethlehem University, Vice Chancellor), and Rodrigo de Andrade (Pontifical Catholic University of Paraná, University Extension and Service-Learning Management). Candelaria Ferrara, Uniservitate Regional Hub Coordinator, coordinated the webinar.
About a hundred people, members of the global network, joined and participated for over two hours, listening, exchanging ideas, and asking questions about the central theme of the day.
Paula Basilico, Membership Coordinator, said: “Both the first part, which provided a theoretical framework, and the opportunity to hear the experiences of different universities describing their own institutionalization processes, were very enriching, especially because they were all so different.” Participants concluded that it was a motivating meeting for those who have not yet undertaken this process and hope to implement it in their institutions.
